Infiniti G37s -original post date 4/3/2013

This is a 2008 Infiniti G37s coupe. The G series is Infiniti's entry level executive line and includes sedans, convertibles and coupes. Yes, "Infiniti" is spelled like that -apparently, licensing the word spelled correctly might have been too costly. Hmmm.. wonder where that 37 in the alpha numeric model designation comes from. Could it be the 3.7L engine that happens to be the same power plant under the hood of the G37 coupe's mechanical twin, the Nissan 370Z (there's that 37 again!)? The "S" in this case, stands for sport tuned. As for a glance at the specs, the Infiniti has 330HP and 270 lb ft of torque and the sport G37 will give you 17mpg city and about 25 highway. For a brand new one, you'd be dealing with a sticker price of around $45,000 (about $5,000 or so more than the 370Z).

In Japan, where these cars are from, the Infiniti Line are sold as Nissans, with actual names like "Skyline". In the US market, buyers like to have luxury divisions to shop and buy elevated versions of regular cars with a badge and extra bells and whistles to differentiate them. Just as a Lexus is a glorified Toyota, an Acura is a high end Honda, a Lincoln is a dressed up Ford, so the Infiniti is a fancy-schmancy Nissan.

The Infiniti pictured here is one I spotted sitting in a used car lot in Crystal, MN. I prefer the Nissan Z myself, but what caught my eye with this Infiniti was the wheels. These are factory 19" rims, but they've been powder coated satin black, and I thought they were a nice looking and subtle aftermarket upgrade to the car's appearance. The price on this one was around $20,000.
