Pontiac G8 GT -original post date 4/9/2013
Spotted this
Pontiac G8 Gt Sedan at the grocery store. These are destined
to be a bit of a rare bird, as they were only sold from 2008-2009.
Pontiac is, of course, now kaput, and there will be no more of them
ever... or will there? As it turns out,
this car managed to reincarnate as a Chevy. Not one you can buy, mind
you (though there are plans for it), but one that can pull you over for
speeding. Say hello to the Chevy Caprice law enforcement vehicle
-dressed as a Pontiac here.
There were three configurations for the Pontiac G8.
First, there was a base model that had a 3.6L V6 good for 256HP -not bad.
Then, there was what we have pictured here, the G8 GT, a front engine, rear wheel drive car with a 6.0L V8 that will give you 361HP (odd because the 2005-2006 model years of Pontiac's 4th generation GTO also had a 6.0L V8 but managed to whip out 400 HP and 400 lb ft of torque).
Finally, the big brother of this model's immediate family: the G8 GXP. This came equipped with a 6.2L V8 good for 415HP and a 6 speed manual transmission.
So, while this car has reincarnated into something you may someday see flashing its cherries and berries in your rear view mirror; it's worth noting, that this is not the first reincarnation for this car. You see, the Pontiac G8 and even the 4th generation GTO mentioned earlier are both actually Australians known as the Holden Commodore (G8), and the Holden Monaro (GTO -AKA the Vauxhall Monaro in the UK and the Chevy Lumina in the middle East). So, what we have here is a car that's cycling through simultaneous incarnations throughout the world... which might make you wonder what kind of karma it must have built up to manage that feat -but then again, a Karma is a different car all together made by a company called Fisker.
