Chevy G20 Van outfitted with rust appearance package:  original post date 4/7/2013

Underneath the crusty, rusty exterior pictured here is a Chevy G20 van. Probably late 1980's-early 90's.
Who really cares what engine it's got? I wouldn't recommend driving it unless you're hauling things around or are planning to make your very own sleazy shag van.
You don't drive one of these for exhilaration or thrills... Unless you're taking the shag van route, that is.
What makes this car du jour is how well it embodies the consequences of driving a vehicle in the rust belt.
That rust coloration on the rear 2/3 of the van sure isn't an aftermarket upgrade. Here in The Midwest, it's not just snow and ice that will munch up the body. We add a catalyst that accelerates the process of turning iron into iron oxide known as road salt. The result is that you'll see cars roaming the streets of Minnesota looking like extras in an automotive casting of the Walking Dead.
Kudos to the van for lasting so long, but here's hoping that it soon gets put out of its misery.
